About AssetTalk
Understanding finance should not require a background in economics or years of experience in the markets. Yet for many people, learning about stocks, investing, mutual funds, financial markets and personal finance can mean working through complicated terminology, fragmented information and conflicting opinions.
AssetTalk was created to make financial knowledge easier to understand, explore and use.
Founded in 2021 by Oliver Bennett and three colleagues, AssetTalk began with a simple idea: people should have access to clear and useful financial information without having to navigate unnecessary complexity. What started as an idea during an uncertain period has grown into a financial information and education platform built around one central purpose—helping readers develop a better understanding of money, markets and investing.
What AssetTalk Covers
AssetTalk brings together educational resources and financial information across the subjects that matter to modern investors and financially curious readers.
Our coverage includes stocks and stock market investing, from market fundamentals and stock analysis to fundamental analysis, technical analysis, financial ratios and stock valuation. We also explore mutual funds, including equity funds, debt funds, index funds, fund performance and fund analysis.
Beyond investments, AssetTalk covers broader areas of personal finance and financial planning, helping readers build knowledge across different aspects of their financial lives.
Our content is designed to work for different levels of financial knowledge. Someone discovering the stock market for the first time should be able to understand the fundamentals, while a more experienced reader should be able to explore more detailed concepts and analysis.
Turning Complex Topics Into Useful Information
Financial subjects can become complicated quickly. A single investment decision can involve terminology, historical performance, financial statements, market conditions, economic factors and risk.
We believe good financial content should put those details into context.
AssetTalk focuses on explaining what a financial concept means, how it works, why it matters and where it fits within the wider financial landscape. Rather than relying on jargon or making financial topics unnecessarily complicated, we aim to present information in a structured and accessible way.
Our approach is built around four principles:
- Clarity: Financial concepts should be understandable without losing their meaning or importance.
- Accuracy: Information should be carefully researched and presented responsibly.
- Context: Numbers and market events become more meaningful when readers understand the factors behind them.
- Education: Our purpose is to strengthen financial understanding, not simply provide isolated information.
An Independent Financial Information Platform
AssetTalk is a financial publishing and education platform, not a personal investment adviser or portfolio management service.
Our objective is to provide readers with information that can help them learn about financial markets and investment concepts. We do not believe financial content should make unrealistic promises or present investing as a guaranteed path to wealth.
Markets involve uncertainty, and every investment carries risk. That is why responsible financial education should acknowledge both potential opportunities and potential risks.
We aim to maintain a clear distinction between financial information and personalised financial advice, allowing readers to use our resources as part of their own research and learning process.
Built for Curious and Informed Readers
AssetTalk is for anyone who wants to understand the financial world more clearly.
That may be someone learning the basics of stocks, a reader researching mutual funds, an investor exploring financial ratios, or someone simply trying to understand how markets and economic developments affect investments.
We believe financial literacy is not something that ends once someone learns the basics. Markets change, businesses evolve, investment products develop and economic conditions shift. Continuing to learn is an important part of becoming a more informed participant in the financial world.
That is why AssetTalk is designed as a resource readers can return to as their knowledge develops.
Our Story
2021 – The Idea That Started It All
In the uncertainty of the pandemic, a small group of friendly researchers grew frustrated by how opaque the world of assets felt to ordinary people. Stock terminology, investment concepts, market movements and the language around owning and understanding assets often seemed unnecessarily complex and distant.
Led by Oliver Bennett, the group brought together experience in research, analysis and digital publishing. They set out to build something different: a clear, responsible resource that explained stocks, markets, investment assets and the principles behind them helping readers grasp the reasoning rather than simply telling them what to think. After months of planning and laying an editorial foundation, AssetTalk began taking shape in late 2021.
2022 – Building the Foundations
The first full year focused on testing the idea in the open. The team began sharing clear, practical explanations of assets, markets and core investment concepts through social media and informal channels. Posts and short guides covered fundamentals, precise terminology and the reasoning behind everyday market language. Feedback from early readers helped refine the tone and structure.
By the end of 2022 a steady stream of educational material had been published across platforms. Readers started returning regularly to learn at their own pace. The founding team stayed deliberately small and focused on quality over rapid expansion, treating social media as the first practical classroom for the niche.
2023 – Expanding Understanding of Assets
Coverage widened as the team continued publishing through social channels. Content moved into clearer analysis of individual stocks and companies, mutual funds and other investment vehicles, practical strategies, and the connections between different types of assets. Information was organised around the real questions readers asked, creating more coherent learning pathways.
The resource base grew steadily through consistent social publishing. Monthly engagement reached the tens of thousands across platforms. What had begun as a conversation among four friends was becoming a recognisable independent voice with a distinct identity: making the world of assets easier to understand without oversimplifying it.
2024 – A Broader and More Analytical View
The team deepened its analytical approach, linking market developments to the underlying businesses, asset characteristics and principles that explain them. Greater emphasis was placed on accuracy, context and clarity.
The library of educational resources continued to expand through social channels and informal formats. The team grew modestly so that editorial standards could be maintained as the scope increased, while still preparing the ground for a permanent home for the material.
2025 – Strengthening the Foundation
AssetTalk focused on connected education linking concepts, analysis and practical knowledge so readers could build a broader, more coherent understanding of how assets and markets actually work. Content standards, organisation and discovery were refined across the platforms where the material lived.
By the end of 2025 the project had established itself as a reliable independent source for clear information on stocks, investment assets, markets and related topics remaining true to the original vision that this knowledge should be understandable and useful to a wide audience. The decision was made to give the growing body of work a dedicated home.
2026 – Launching the Platform
In 2026 AssetTalk launched its official website, moving from social channels and informal publishing into a permanent, organised destination. What had been tested and refined over five years now lived in one place: clear explanations, useful research and dependable information on assets, investing and markets.
The original team of four remained at its core. From the idea first discussed during the pandemic to a growing platform, the mission stayed consistent: make knowledge about assets easier to understand without stripping away its meaning.
Looking Ahead
The next chapter is about building deliberately on that foundation.
The ambition is not simply to publish more content, but to create a trusted destination where investors, learners and anyone curious about assets can find clear explanations, useful research and dependable information in one place. Markets will continue to evolve, new asset classes and investment products will appear, and technology will keep changing how people access information.
Our purpose remains the same as it was when the idea first took shape in 2021:
Make assets easier to understand.
Make information easier to access.
Help more people become confident in navigating the financial world of assets.
